Four ski areas in the Gastein valley offer high-class winter entertainment for beginners, intermediates as well as experts. Almost 200km of perfectly groomed pistes are waiting for winter sports enthusiasts. 25 highly modern lifts carry you up into the mountains in no time, directly to the winter sports paradise featuring an assortment of welcoming rustic huts. Due to altitude Gastein valley is the place to be from early December until April.

Ski Gastein

In the Gastein valley winter sports enthusiasts can choose between four attractive skiing areas. Depending on your skiing skills and weather conditions, you should plan your ski day. Ideal for a family ski trip is the biggest resort Schlossalm-Angertal-Stubnerkogel. Slopes for all levels, a beginner practice ground and lots of huts are waiting for you. Sportgastein is the highest skiing area and the place to be for enthusiastic off-piste skiers and freeriders. For all skiers who loves difficult runs – commonly known as black runs – we recommend to visit the Graukogel. In 1958 the world championships took place on the Graukogel. The ski link Dorfgastein-Großarl is also a very family friendly skiing area.

You can be sure that you will only receive new, well maintained snow sports equipment, which is also adjusted to your ability, size and weight. Freeride & ski touring

Freeriding and ski tours are very booming. More and more winter sport fans are drawn to open terrain like a magnet. The Gastein valley is known as one of the most diversified freeride areas in Austria. Sportgastein is the place to be for advanced freeriders in Gastein. The longest ski route runs from the Schareck to Sportgastein. Furthermore there are two freeride routes (Schlossalm – Sportgastein) as well as a freeride info base. At the avalanche training center in Sportgastein you can practice working with avalanche search & rescue transceivers in realistic conditions free of charge.
